ABOUT MECHANICAL DEPARTMENT

DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, Established as one of the major departments of the Institute, the Department of Mechanical Engineering Visakha Institute of Engineering and Technology strives to produce highly competent engineers equipped with advanced professional knowledge, professional and ethical attitude, entrepreneurial thinking, analytical skills and critical problem solving through effective teaching learning process, research and industrial collaboration. The faculty of the department, a rich blend with academic and industrial experience, have been constantly carrying out research on many cutting edge technologies .The academic quality of the department is reflected by the opportunities won by the students and the distinguished positions in industry and academia occupied by alumni.

The department strives to upgrade the knowledge of faculty and students by organizing various Workshops, Industry-Institute Interactions, Continuous Improvement Programs inviting eminent personalities from Industry and academic Institutions, Seminars and Research activities. Students are provided internship programs in various power plants and industries like VIZAG DOCK YARD, HPCL, GMR, GVK, VPT, Vizag steel plant,SunaramFasteners , APSRTC etc.

The department has well equipped laboratories such as Workshop laboratory, Fluid Mechanics Laboratory, Strength of Materials laboratory, Instrumentation laboratory, Metallurgy Laboratory, CAD Simulation laboratory, Thermal engineering laboratory, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning laboratory.

MISSION

Impart quality education and training to nurture globally competitive mechanical engineers. Use of enhanced tools and techniques by motivated and qualified faculty for enhancement of knowledge, understanding of principles, concepts and latest trends in Mechanical engineering. Modernization of workshops and laboratories as per the curriculum specified by the State Board of Technical Education, Andhra Pradesh.

Conduct of laboratories, guest lectures, industrial visits and industrial training for better understanding of critical concepts of Mechanical Engineering.

Provide opportunities for developing multidisciplinary skills, communication skills, professional attitude and ethics.

Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines, and plays a significant role in enhancing safety, economic vitality, enjoyment and overall quality of life throughout the world. The mechanical engineering department at Visakha Institute of Engineering and Technology always strives to stay at the forefront of technological innovation. Our department lives and swears by technological developments that are shaking the very foundations of conventional wisdom. If there is an existing solution to a real life problem in the field of mechanical engineering, our students know of it. And if there doesn’t exist any, you can find them engrossed in finding one.
