Research & Development Cell

The Research and Development Cell is dedicated to fostering a vibrant research culture within the college. It actively promotes research in emerging and interdisciplinary fields across Engineering, Technology, Science, and Humanities. By encouraging students and faculty to explore frontier areas, the cell enhances their research capabilities and nurtures future innovators. Through participation in conferences, seminars, workshops, and project competitions, budding technocrats gain valuable experience, paving the way for technological and intellectual advancements.

Objectives of R&D

The Research & Development (R&D) Cell at VIET is committed to fostering a dynamic research culture and innovation-driven learning environment. Our key objectives include:

1. Promoting Research Culture: Creating awareness and opportunities for R&D among students and faculty across all departments

2. Encouraging Academic Growth: Motivating faculty to pursue research projects, enhance their expertise, and register for Ph.D. programs.

3. Facilitating Publications: Inspiring students and staff to publish research papers in reputed national and international journals/conferences.

4. Interdisciplinary Research Support: Encouraging faculty across Engineering, Science, and Humanities to engage in R&D for professional growth.

5. Collaboration with Leading Agencies: Undertaking projects with ISRO, DRDO, CSIR, DST, AICTE, UGC, DBT and more..

6. Student Research Funding: Assisting students in securing research grants from TNSCST, IEI (I), DRDO, TCS, Infosys, etc.

7. Organizing Knowledge Forums:: Securing funds for seminars, workshops, and faculty development programs (FDPs) from funding agencies.

8. Enhancing Research Impact:Developing strategies to increase faculty success in obtaining external research grants.

9. Building Research Networks:Strengthening collaborations across faculties, institutes, industries, and government organizations.

Dr Satyanarayana Tirlangi, Associate Professor and R&D Dean is a dynamic and multi talented personality with research orientation. He obtained his Doctoral degree from AU, Visakhapatnam. He is also having 14 years of Teaching and Research experience. He has 20 International and National Publications/ Conference proceedings to his credit, 05 Patents Grants, 02 Books, 06 Book Chapters and guided many PG and UG students’ projects. He also organized and participated in number of National & International Seminars / Conferences and Workshops. He is a Chartered Engineer and Approved valuer for Plant and Machinery. He is life member of different professions body memberships and Institute of Engineers (India). His research interests are Composite Materials, friction stir Welding and Corrosion etc.

- Encourage faculty and students to engage in research across various disciplines.
- Organize seminars, workshops, and conferences to enhance research awareness.
- Provide mentorship and guidance for innovative research projects.
Research Funding & Collaboration
- Identify funding opportunities from government agencies (ISRO, DRDO, CSIR, DST, AICTE, UGC, DBT, Infosys, etc.).
- Assist faculty and students in preparing research proposals and securing grants
- Establish collaborations with industries, research organizations, and academic institutions for joint projects.
Publications & Patents
- Encourage faculty and students to publish research papers in reputed national & international journals and conferences.
- Support patent filing and intellectual property rights (IPR) for innovative research
- Facilitate access to research databases, journals, and digital libraries.
Innovation & Technology Development
- Promote multidisciplinary and application-oriented research.
- Support the development of prototypes, products, and startups through incubation centers
- Organize hackathons, project competitions, and industry-led challenges.
